Jacanamijoy does not paint nature from a distance; he paints it from within.
The title Naturaleza Interior (Inner Nature) describes both an intimate landscape and a way of inhabiting the natural world.
In his paintings, conventional distinctions between the observer and the observed progressively dissolve, as forms oscillate between foliage, water, animal life, celestial bodies, and pure chromatic matter.
“Carlos and I met more than twenty years ago, and since then I have believed in his work and supported his career,” says Lio Malca, founder of the Fundación La Nave Salinas. “We began imagining an exhibition at La Nave when the foundation first opened. More than a decade later, the stars have finally aligned.”
